SMAP is short for "Sports Music Assemble People". Originally there were 6 members: Nakai Masahiro, Kimura Takuya, Kusanagi Tsuyoshi, Inagaki Gorou, Katori Shingo and Mori Masayuki, who left the band 1996. Nakai is the unofficial leader of SMAP.
