2009-11-28 - The latest drama adaptation of a Seicho Matsumoto novel to be announced is TBS's "Hi to Shio," which will air this December 21, the 100th anniversary of Matsumoto's birth.
The mystery begins with a murder in Kyoto and a shipwreck in the Miura Peninsula that happen at the same time. Lead actor Akira Terao (62) plays the one detective whose intuition tells him that the two incidents are connected somehow, and he sets off in search of the truth. Although the original novel is set in the Showa era, the drama will be adapted to more recent times.
Other cast members include Kouji Yamamoto (33) as the detective's partner and Hisako Manda (51) as the detective's wife.
